Lantern Festival: Opening Weekend

The Missouri Botanical Garden’s Lantern Festival opens in 1 week. To celebrate the festival’s opening, MOBOT is having a Grand Opening Weekend on Memorial Day Weekend from May 26-May 28, 2012. You can enjoy all the festivities from 9 AM to 10 PM.

Cowherd - Double Seventh Festival

Saturday the 26th

10:45 AM Opening Extravaganza and Parade Enjoy a 70-foot, 12-man Chinese dragon as the star of the even’t opening parade and party

12:00 PM/3:00 PM/5:00 PM New Shanghai Circus Enjoy dances, acrobatics, magic, and music at the garden’s amphitheatre

2:00 PM Dragon Dance If you miss the morning’s dragon then catch it once again in the afternoon

2:30 PM Grand Parade A daily parade features the dragon, acrobats, lion dancers, and martial art teams

4:00 PM The Tales of the Chinese Lanterns Learn the history of Chinese lanterns and the stories and legends behind some of the designs in the garden’s theatre

8:00 PM The lanterns are lit! Stay until 10 PM to see them glow

Moonlit Pathway

Sunday the 27th

11:00 AM/2:00 PM Dragon Dance There won’t be a parade but you can still see the dragon do its dragon dance

12:00 PM/3:00 PM/5:00 PM New Shanghai Circus Enjoy dances, acrobatics, magic, and music at the garden’s amphitheatre

2:30 PM Grand Parade A daily parade features the dragon, acrobats, lion dancers, and martial art teams

Lantern Festival Grand Opening Weekend admission:
$22-adults (ages 13 & over)/$15 Garden members
$10-children (ages 3—12)/$5 Garden members’ children (ages 3—12)
Free-children ages 2 & under

The Lantern Festival runs May 26 through August 19, 2012 at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis.
