Fall Travel Goals

I just did a follow-up of my summer travel goals yesterday so it looks like it’s time for me to set some fall goals. Since fall ends so close to Christmas, I’m going to give myself until December 31, 2011 to accomplish everything I’ve planned out. I’ll make my next set of goals just in time for New Year’s Resolution season.

For the fall, my husband and I have several DIY projects planned so we’ll be hometown bound once more. Don’t worry, I have 2 trips lined up already for 2012 so there will be some variation soon! In the meantime, I’ll be discovering a different side of St. Louis- think more arts and culture and a little bit of nature.

Come sit, enjoy

1. Visit Cherokee Street

While Cherokee Street in St. Louis tends to be a popular party spot on Cinco de Mayo, I’m more interested in the fact that its the largest antique shopping district in St. Louis. Though I do plan to try some authentic Mexican food dishes too!

2. Find the Fall Foliage

This one might be tricky with the dry summer St. Louis had but I’m determined to see some changing colors in my own area. I know the East Coast is supposed to be the mecca of all things autumn but I hope St. Louis can give it a run for the money. Bonus points for doing a fall activity in the foliage.

3. Watch a Show

I’m leaving this one vague because I want to challenge myself to think outside the box. I could go see a favorite artist in concert, watch the symphony play, or even a ballet. With all the theaters in St. Louis, I have no excuse not to try something new.

4. Watch a Christmas Show

To make Goal #3 even more of a challenge, it can’t overlap with Goal #4- watching a Christmas show. I’m thinking Nutcracker, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, A Christmas Carol, or even just a community band’s Christmas show. With all the DIY work I have coming up, I’m sure I’ll need a push into the holiday spirit.

5. Find the Best Christmas Lights in St. Louis

This one might be a multi-part saga or an epic journey but I’m sick of the same old icicle lights on houses. I won’t give up until I’ve found the best lights…or until the cold gets to me. Bonus points for each Christmas display I seek out over 3 locations.

What fall/Christmas goals do you have?
