1. Atlantis Paradise Island: Paradise Island, Bahamas
Atlantis has 6 different places to stay with designs for everyone and The Reef Atlantis was just named a TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Award Winner for Families. Teens will like the chance to swim with dolphins, the on-site water park with its rock climbing wall, and the nightclub CRUSH that is exclusively for 13-17 year olds.
2. Smugglers’ Notch: Smugglers’ Notch, Vermont
While many people know of Smuggler’s Notch as a winter vacation destination, it’s also a fine summer spot to take the family. For those 11-15, there’s the Notch Squad that keeps kids busy with rope courses, hiking, music, and craft projects. If you book with the FamilyFest Vacation Package, these activities are free. Older teens have a package of their own called the Mountain Explorer’s Camp where they can kayak, mountain board, throw pottery, and enjoy beach parties.
3. Universal Orlando Resort: Orlando, Florida
The Universal Orlando Resort just got a whole lot more exciting for the family. It grew famous with its 2 parks—Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. Rides like The Incredible Hulk, Revenge of the Hulk, and E.T. Adventure were always full of thrills for teens. 4. Walt Disney World Resort: Orlando, Florida
You may be worried that teens are too old for Disney World but I enjoyed my teen visit more than my childhood visits. That’s probably because Disney offers so much wore for teens these days. Epcot has added Test Track and Mission: Space for those that need speed while those wanting to feel cultured and glamorous can head to World Showcase to see the countries of the world.
5. Beaches Turks & Caicos: Providenciales, Turks and Caicos
Beaches Turks & Caicos wins points for being an exotic destination that most teens can be sure their friends haven’t seen. For teens who prefer the indoors, there’s a Martha Stewart Craft Studio and an Xbox 360 Game Garage. For those who prefer the sun, Pirates Island has a waterpark with a surf simulator and 7 waterslides. At night there’s Liquid, a parent-free dance club for those under 21.
6. Triangle C Dude Ranch: Stanley, Wyoming
Triangle C Dude Ranch is a dude ranch with activities for the whole family. Teens can enjoy horseback riding, overnight mountain biking trips and themed “Dude Disco” nights. There are also day trips for the whole family to take with the Wildlife Day Safari program where you can visit Grand Teton National Park or Yellowstone National Park.
7. Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort & Spa: Akumal, Mexico
Teens will love being treated like royalty with the all-inclusive entertainment and food of Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort. For teens, there’s also the Black & White Junior’s Club with gaming systems, foosball, and dance parties to keep everyone entertained.
8. The Tyler Place Family Resort: Highgate Springs, Vermont
The Tyler Place Family Resort is a place for those who love the great outdoors. The pools are wide open and it sits right on a river with kayaking, boat rentals, and lake trampolines. Teens will love activities geared just for them, including karaoke, tubing, fishing trips, hiking, mountain biking. These activities are all included and teens can enjoy them with those their own age instead of parents.
9. Fairmont Scottsdale Princess: Scottsdale, Arizona
The Fairmont Scottsdale might seem like a surprising pick but it’s family-friendly, teen-friendly, and feels exotic while sitting right inside the United States. They have a large lagoon style pool with 200-foot slides, a private lounge for teens, and a sport court. There are also family friendly excursions including hot air ballooning and horseback riding.
10. Four Seasons Costa Rica at Papagayo Peninsula: Liberia, Costa Rica
The star attraction of the Four Seasons Costa Rica is the 10,000+ square foot pool. Teens will have a hard time getting up from it but if they do they’ll be rewarded with the natural attractions Costa Rica has to offer. There’s horseback riding, ziplining through the rainforest, snorkeling, surfing, kayaking, and volcano tours.
