Honeymoon Week: Thailand

For this honeymoon, we head to Asia and the country of Thailand. The Phucket province is an island connected to the mainland by bridges. The area might be high on tourism, but it also has some amazing resorts and beaches for international visitors. The resort we’ve chosen is nestled between two beautiful beaches, both within walking distance

Avista Phuket Resort and Spa

The Avista Phuket Resort and Spa sits overlooking the Andaman Sea. There are 143 guest rooms, each with a private terrace or balcony. The hotel is situated in Kata, between the Kata and Karon beaches. Head north to the Karon beach and find the second-most developed beach on the island. The beach here is dotted with chairs and guest houses for low daily rentals (usually 100THB or $3.30USD) and massages can be purchased here as well. Walk 5 minutes south to Kata Beach, where the less popular beach leads to spectacular water sports and diving. You can jetski, snorkel or even parasail here.

The Avista Phuket - Deluxe Bathroom

  • Location: Near Kata Beach, just off the southwest portion of the Thailand mainland in Phucket. It borders the Andaman Sea, part of the Indian Ocean.
  • Best for: Someone who wants to be able to interact with locals, someone who enjoys oceans and tropical climates
  • Not For: People who want native English speakers providing service, people who dislike crowds
  • Notable: Don’t drink the water here and don’t walk alone at night. There has been increased pickpocketing and muggings and the water is not potable.
  • Budget: Moderate. There’s good and bad. Stay here for 6 nights in March and you’ll pay just $1300 for your room. That’s total. Unfortunately, your airfare will cost you nearly the same amount per person. We expect the total of this trip to come in near $4000 unless you can find a bargain on airfare. Look below at the deals and see how we can help you save on the room itself.
  • Time to Visit: October through April will bring the best season for travel and weather. If you can handle a little extra heat, travel here in late April/early May to get a break on the high season prices.
  • Time to Avoid: September and October are the high monsoon season. April and May are the hottest months. May through November is the rainy season.
