Hogwarts Express

  • Head to Fort William Railway Station
  • Take “The Jacobite” from Fort William to Mallaig
    • Line the Hogwarts Express took
    • Pass over Loch Shiel
    • Pass over Glenfinnan Viaduct
    • 1.5 hour lunch break in Mallaig
    • Return by train to Fort William
  • Take service train from Fort William to Glasgow
  • Fly back to London via Easy Jet (Rates as low as £23.99)

Day Seven

  • Drive from your hotel to the Fort William Railway Station.
  • Take “The Jacobite” from Fort William to Mallaig.
    • Adult Day Return runs £31.00 for standard and £49.00 for first class.
    • Book tickets early, they sell out fast.
    • This train ride is the route taken by Hogwarts students on their way to school
    • West Coast Railways provided the steam engine and carriages seen in the movie. Certain rides may include the carriages as seen in the movies.
    • This train route runs May through October.
  • Your 84-mile round-trip journey takes you past many familiar sites including:
      Glenfinnan Viaduct 1

    • Glenfinnan, you’ll recognize the Glenfinnan Viaduct as the arched railway the Hogwarts Express crosses over. In Glenfinnan you’ll have the chance to stop, stretch your legs and explore the on-site museum.
    • Loch Shiel, which you’ll pass over on your journey, is used as the Hogwarts Lake in the movies.
    • Mallaig

    • Mallaig, where you have over 90 minutes to explore the sea town and grab some lunch. Different portions of the second, third and fourth movies were shot in this town and locals were filmed as extras.
    • You’ll return by train back to Fort William.
  • Travel via service train from Fort William to Glasgow.
    • The train generally runs from around 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
    • You’ll arrive at the Glasgow Queen Street Station.
  • Stay overnight in Glasgow.

Post-Trip

Return to London via Glasgow airport. EasyJet offers one-way flights for as low as £23.99 between Glasgow and London. From there, you can spend more time in London or transfer to a flight home.
